I love writers who have the ability to make me nod my head furiously in agreement when they talk about the most mundane pieces of their life. Joan Didion, Dani Shapiro and Anne Lamott are all experts at this and it’s what I aim for as I begin my journey as a writer. It takes more ingenuity and guts to write about the small things than it does the big things.
